Barack Obama Family Tree

Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States, was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1961 to Barack Obama Sr., a Kenyan economist, and Stanley Ann Dunham, an American anthropologist.

Obama's extended family spans the United States and Kenya. Through his mother, he has a maternal half-sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng. Through his father, he has several paternal half-siblings, including Malik Obama, Auma Obama, George Obama, Abo Obama, and Bernard Obama.

At the center of the modern Obama family are Barack Obama and Michelle Robinson Obama. They met while working at the Chicago law firm Sidley & Austin and married in 1992. Their marriage connects the Obama and Robinson families, and Michelle became First Lady of the United States during Barack Obama's presidency from 2009 to 2017.
